5 Reasons you should Go to Marben Restaurant

So I was invited to a competition held by the Wine region of Alsace and Rhone.  The competition invited 10 of the top young chefs in Toronto to create food pairings for wines from the Alsace and Rhone regions of France.  Judges were Susur Lee, Lee Restaurant, Lesley Provost, Good Food Revolution, Nadine Anglin,, Ian Campbell, Drinks Ontario and Laura Ruffolo, LCBO. One of my favorite restaurants was Marben so I thought I would share what Chef Misha made and why you should go to the restaurant.  Did I mention he was one of the top 2 in the competition?    

1.  Fried pigs head goodness or Presskopf on an endive salad with apple puree paired with Leon Beyer 2009 Pinot Gris – Marben clearly takes the nose to tail thing to “a ho nuvah lehvoh. (whole other level – ala madtv)”

 2. Choucoute Granis or some tasty pigs belly on saurkraut paired with Dopff  & Iron Crystal D’Alsace Sylvaner – If pigs belly isn’t a reason then maybe your on the wrong blog.

 3. Sous Vide Trout with with Sauce Genois paired with Louis Bernard Cotes-Du-Rhone 2009 -Classic, homestyle cooking with a dash of modern technique.

4.  Braised beef short ribs with baby vegetables or the best piece of meat on the planet paired with Chapoutier Cotes-Du-Rhone Villages – Uh Need I say more then the best piece of meat on the planet?

5.  On weekends Marben turns into lounge with a great DJ, at the time of writing this my friend DJ Kariz
Great food and great music…well you decide.
