Contest – Goose Island Beer Takes Over Nota Bene

My first experience with Goose Island was at the 2013 Toronto Festival of Beer.  They sponsored the Social Media tent and offered both their Matilda and Sophie brands.  At first I thought they were champagne bottles but then came to see they were craft beer.  I would definitely call Matilda back but maybe not Sophie.  Not bad just not my style.

I then picked up Pepe Nero at the LCBO and really loved the beer.  It was a sharing beer, in their champagne style bottle which we are seeing a lot of showing up in the craft beer section.  We chose it as a stand alone sipper but could see it easily used as a great pairing course.

Pepe Nero is a darker pour, that boasts peppercorn, but not enough to turn me off in the way that it first sounded.  This is a good thing.  And, at 6.4% you wont need much of it.

Goose Island can be considered a larger brewery but brews roughly 20 different brews at any given time.  Each of them hand crafted.  I am already a Matilda and Pepe Nero fan and hope to get my hands on theirlambic beer soon.

As part of Goose Island’s entry into Canada, they are offering their Vintage line at a special beer pairing dinner put on by LCBO Vintages at the always killer Nota Bene.  Chef David Lee and some great beer is a recipe for a good time.  Also, I have seen the not so secret menu and it is killer.  Well, for me it is, but I am sure you will enjoy the food.  The evening will be lead by the Goose Island Cicerone, Suzanne Wolcott.  5 Goose Island beers will be represented, one of which was rated top 20 in the world called Bourbon County Stout.  A double stout aged in bourbon barrels.  If you are a stout fan, this will be pretty special.

Wanna join me?

I will be giving away 2 tickets valued at an estimated $125 each for the event.

What do you have to do?  Tell me the last upscale restaurant you ordered a craft beer from and if you paired it with food or simply tell me a crappy beer to good beer story.  Please use the hashtag #GooseIslandCA so I can find you.  If the hashtag is not used I cannot guarantee I will see it and that it will be counted.
